Innovation SuperNetwork’s flagship event, VentureFest North East is all set to celebrate its 10th anniversary year featuring a full two-day programme taking place on Wednesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 11 at two different high-profile venues in the centre of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The event is a leading innovation conference designed to help North East innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, start-ups and SMEs grow their businesses through connections, inspiring speakers and practical workshops. There will be a range of opportunities for regional businesses to connect, innovate and grow as well as the chance to reflect on the journey VentureFest has taken over the last decade as it marks 10 years of celebrating regional innovation.
Day one on Wednesday, May 10, will aim to inspire and connect, featuring keynote speakers, innovator stories and an exhibition packed with regional businesses and organisations who can offer support. It will take place at The Boiler Shop in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The impressive line-up of speakers will present a global perspective on the challenges impacting society around this year’s theme, ‘Our Future, Now’. It will celebrate the innovation and technology available in today's day and age, which VentureFest hopes will help us to achieve a healthy and sustainable future for all.
The main stage boasts three inspiring keynotes with Adah Parris, a futurist, visionary artist, and activist who inspires transformative change; and Finbarr Dowling, project director at Siemens who has a demonstrated history of working in energy and renewable energy. It will also include Martin Hunt, managing director of Forum For The Future, a leading international non-profit dedicated to accelerating the shift toward a sustainable future.
Day two, on Thursday, May 11 at The Common Room in Newcastle-upon-Tyne will take a pragmatic look at the knowledge and skills that will help businesses to innovate and grow by offering a packed programme of workshops. It will be a chance for businesses to build their own itinerary for the day, tailored towards their specific needs, whilst honing their knowledge and building relationships with peers and potential new collaborators.
Designed to help delegates take their business further, day two of VentureFest North East will be led by Innovation SuperNetwork’s team of innovation managers and supported by key partners of the business including Blu Sky Chartered Accountants, Catax (A Ryan Company) and B Lab. Estelle Blanks, CEO of innovation SuperNetwork says: “Each year with VentureFest we try to ensure our programme is touching on critical themes where innovation can make a real impact. In our 10th anniversary year, we want to reflect on the journey our flagship event has been on and the impact regional innovation is having globally.
“At the same time, we can’t forget that we’re facing huge challenges in reaching our net zero ambitions with the impact not just affecting our environment but the health and wellbeing of communities across the globe. Innovation is key to making future progress, but we need to collaborate to ensure the technology that is available now can affect the change we so desperately need to see.
“We are really proud to have a two-day programme this year! I’m really excited about day one with our fantastic line-up of global keynote speakers and lightning talks from some truly innovative businesses, but day two of VentureFest will feature a unique programme of workshops and presentations that we haven’t done on this scale before.
"It will offer businesses in the region a chance to build on their existing skills and gain valuable advice and resource from our valued partners and our own brilliant innovation managers at Innovation SuperNetwork who all have their own unique skillsets and vast experience.”
VentureFest North East is delivered as part of the Catalysing Innovation in North East Clusters Project 2021-2023, delivered by the Innovation SuperNetwork and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
